With an estimated area of about 1,000 square kilometres, Ogoniland is the third largest mangrove ecosystem in the world. Located in the Niger Delta region of southeastern Nigeria, Ogoniland is also home to a wide range of local Ogoni kingdoms including:Babbe, Eleme, Gokana, Ken-Khana, Nyo-Khana and Tai. The Delta has been decimated by twenty years of oil extraction led by Dutch giant Shell. Lokiaka Community Development Centre is an indigenous led NGO with a team of 256 trained women from 16 Ogoni communities. The women are landless, due to unattended oil spills
